As a new member of the extraordinary HdB family, I never thought I’ll blend in so quickly. On June 26th, that was my first time to be a cook on the common meal. It was an unforgettable experience starting from the day I started thinking what should I cook passing by preparation and finally cooking and serving and hoping it tastes good. To be honest, I wouldn’t have made it through the cooking if it wasn’t for my amazing helper. Yes! Helpers. In here, we are encouraged to cook and help cooks in two separate regular common meals. You get to know your co-family members closer and you get to enjoy cooking with them and going through all the process of overcoming sudden problems in the kitchen like when my crepes didn’t cook well because I forgot to put flour or when my fellow cook who used too much oil. But at the end of the line, at 6:30 pm we were ready with delicious food and enjoyed it with all the HdB family. This common meal’s menu was very diverse. We had Indian, Taiwanese and Japanese dishes for the main course. Followed by French and Japanese desserts. The match muffins were brilliant!!
At the end, I just wanted to add that I could have never wished for a better place to live in Kyoto. Thank you HdB family…
