One of the most awaited events of spring semester of HdB, the Dance Party was held on Saturday (06/27) and it indeed lived up to the hype surrounding it.
The “Angels and Demons” themed party started at 7 pm and continued till 10:30 pm. It was very generous of our neighbours who gave their consent for this event and excused us for the noise we were going to make that night. The house parents were also very patient and supportive for they were ‘sleeping’ in the same building as we were partying.
The whole house was decorated as per the theme. All residents were allotted some duties during the party like bartender, DJ and receptionist, the first shift of which was supposed to start at 6:30 pm.
We all assembled in the lobby bang on time and were eagerly awaiting the arrival of guests. Our joy knew no limits when the first group of guests arrived sharp at 7 pm and there was no looking back afterwards. The turnout was amazing. Although not many guests turned up according to the decided theme, the residents did put up an impressive show by going with the theme and making the evening more entertaining. The evening gave way to an even more bustling night curtsy the fabulous music, which kept the guests glued to the dance floor. No one bothered if they even knew their dance partner and just kept on going with the flow and enjoying themselves completely. Drinks kept flowing throughout the night. They were the perfect companions of people engaged in animated conversations with old and new friends alike and at the same time brought respite to the people who went wild while dancing. Lots of new conversations started and lots of new friends were made (which could be judged from the number of friend requests we received on FB after that party). It was also a kind of reunion of old residents who came all the way from Tokyo for this single night, which made the party more special.
Now it was almost the time to bring an end to the celebrations, which no one wanted. And trust me; we did have a tough time in convincing the guests for that. But it was fun because the toughest part was yet to come, the cleaning. After the guests left, we all started cleaning the place and arranging the things. It was almost half past mid night when we finished everything. Most of us then went to sleep while some brave ones went for clubbing!! The event saw some amazing team work from all the residents which contributed its success. People were seen leaving satisfied with the night and were all praise for the coolest dormitory in Kyoto, HdB!!
