On 8 April 2017, the dorm had our first official event where we welcomed the new residents and scholars. The team, consisting of Sarasa, Juli, Sam, Daisy, and Kosuke prepared the food for the party.

  The team then presented a video to introduce the new members and many speeches were given by committee members, members of the team, the house parents, and special guests such as Baba-san who had started to work in the office ten years after the dorm was established. The Vollenweider family, who were the house parents 30 years ago, also joined us because they were having a brief stay at the dorm as scholars. Mr. Vollenwieder was kind enough to give a ‘kampai’ speech where we tried to say ‘cheers’ in as many languages as possible.
